get it all

It makes me sad.

It’s this heart for people, this sense of right and wrong, this knowledge that God has SO much more for us than we really understand, that compels me to write. I can only describe it as sadness, my heart just cries out, longs for people to fully realize what it is that the Christian life means.

It’s so much more than a label, so much more than our “religious views" on facebook. I’m not saying I’m perfect or have it all figured out, but I do know that I want it all. I want all that God has, all that this Christian life has. It’s not a selfish thing, it’s the right thing.

If we are really going to give up our lives, “lay down our lives and take up the cross” to live this Christian life, then shouldn’t we feel completely compelled and justified to know exactly what it is we can have?

It wouldn’t make sense for us to go get a job and get into a career that we wanted but not even ask about the benefits, even though there are great ones, and in turn forfeit them. We have the job, but we are missing out on the benefits.

We are Christians, but we are stopping there. Yea we have a call and a purpose as Christians to reach the lost, to follow Christ, to have a great relationship with God, to be led by the Holy Spirit. But we are picking up everything along the way that the world has to offer in order for it to add to our lives, but we are missing out on the best. We are replacing God’s best with the world’s best. If I am going to be a Christian, commit my life to Christ, then of course I want to get a hold of every single thing that God has given to me. All the blessings, the benefits, the favor, the joy, the peace, the security. If I don’t even tap into that then what’s the point? Are we just living like robots in our walk with God?

I challenge you to take a step back and just reflect. Are you forfeiting the benefits?
